According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, Vietnam exported 215,733 tonnes of pepper in the first nine months of 2026, earning more than USD 1.2 billion. Volume rose 15.4% and value 10.2% year on year.
The US remained the largest market with 50,621 tonnes (up 26.6%), or 23.5% of total volume. China ranked second with 24,904 tonnes, up 62.2%. Together the two markets accounted for about 70% of the industry's growth.
Thailand, the Netherlands, Türkiye and Canada also grew strongly, while shipments to Germany, India and Russia declined. The association noted that third-quarter results were lower than the second quarter and that the downward trend in Europe needs close monitoring.
The Agency of Foreign Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade) sees a positive outlook for pepper exports to the US in the final months of the year, although competition from Brazil is intensifying.
