According to figures reported by VnEconomy, Vietnam exported 268,408 tonnes of cashew worth USD 1.87 billion in the first five months of 2026, down 3% in volume and 0.3% in value year on year. May alone reached 74,107 tonnes and USD 528.54 million, up from April.
The Middle East, the industry's third-largest market in 2025 (about 12% of export value), was hit hard: exports to the region fell about 50% in March and almost no new contracts were signed in April.
Elsewhere, the Netherlands imported 22,349 tonnes worth nearly USD 160 million, a slight increase, and Germany took more than 11,000 tonnes with value up 24%. Canada, Australia, Thailand and Spain also grew.
Mr. Bach Khanh Nhut, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), said developing new markets takes time to build distribution networks, so the shortfall is hard to offset quickly.
